The tell-tale sign of a new wedding professional? They bring flowers home with them after every event. It’s just too painful to see them get thrown away. After a few weeks and a kitchen full of dying flowers, they realize there must be a better way. So they check with elderly care facilities and homeless shelters to see if they’ll take them. They don’t. They’ve tried it before as well. It takes a month or two, but eventually they come to understand why wedding venues need large dumpsters.
Now, let’s talk beer. Most wedding venues offer the choice of one domestic and one craft beer with their bar packages. But since no one wants to run out of beer at their wedding reception, they buy more than they need. Of both! Because they also don’t know which beer more people will want. Without a doubt, the same wedding professionals would love to take the extra beer home…. but that’s not a thing! So the not-empty kegs go back to the distributor where the leftovers are poured down the drain.
Waste is one of the reasons weddings cost more than they need to, so it’s something we work hard to avoid!
We launched Green Room mainly because we love plants! But we also love how they don’t hit the dumpsters. They go back to the lights and warmers they love after your event so they stay happy and can be used again. And again. There’s something nice about not throwing away beautiful things. There’s something extra nice about how it makes us a more affordable wedding venue.
We include eight beers with all of our wedding packages mainly because eight is better than two! But also, we’ll serve them again the next day. And the next. We use every ounce of every keg every weekend, which means no waste. Which also makes us a more affordable wedding venue.
Full disclosure: we still have a big dumpster! But we’re doing everything we can to cut back on all the waste because it feels like the right thing to do. We think your budget will agree.
