A FEW QUICK THINGS
WHILE YOU’RE HERE…
Alcohol
Michigan liquor laws prohibit outside alcohol coming into our space. If your event host has opted to have alcohol at their event, all alcohol must be served by our staff. Shots and straight spirits will not be poured. Our bartenders may require ID for service, so please be sure to have your ID with you. All beverage must stay inside.
Parking
Look for CHENEY signs that will direct you to pull behind our building using Dale Street. We will have parking attendants assisting. If the lot fills, there is free street parking on all streets surrounding the building including Monroe in the front of the building. There are handicapped spaces next to the front door in the loading dock lot.
Smoking
We request smoking to be kept at least 25 feet from the entrances in accordance with local ordinance. Marijuana in any form is not permitted on the property.
Media
Guests acknowledge there may be professional photographers and videographers at the event and vendors may also be capturing content. The Cheney Place reserves the right to use this media for promotional purposes unless other arrangements have been made by your event host.
Communication
While communication for your event will primarily come from your host, there is the chance we may need to reach out with important updates. We’ll use professional discretion and will only email with an important note regarding your event.
FAQ
There will be signs on the street directing you to turn on Dale Street to access our parking lot behind the building. If the lot fills, free street parking is available on all street surrounding the building including on Monroe in the front of the building. Handcapped parking is available in the loading docks near the entrance. Parking attendants will be available to help direct you.
Our front door on Monroe is fully accessible and our staff can assist with the elevator for access to the second floor. Accessible bathrooms are available on both the first and second floors. Please ask our staff if you need further assistance.
If you plan on drinking, we ask that you make efforts to arrange for safe driving home at the end of the night. This may include using Uber/Lyft for your transportation needs. If you determine it is unsafe to drive following the event, you may leave your car in the lot overnight but we ask that it is picked up no later than 9:00am the following morning to clear the lot for events the next day. Cars maybe towed if not removed by noon.

Driving North on 131
Take Leonard Street exit (exit 87) and turn right at the stoplight. Take left at the first light (Monroe Ave) after crossing the bridge over the Grand River. The Cheney Place will be on your right just past the black steel train bridge. Follow the parking signs.
Driving South on 131
Take the Ann Street exit (exit 88). Take a left at the light. Take a left at the next stoplight which is Ann Street. Cross the bridge over the Grand River and take a right at the first stoplight (Monroe Ave). The Cheney Place will be a few blocks down on the left. Follow the parking signs.
